Agreed. I think Christian values in government is fine, but overt religiosity does not belong in government; leave that to individuals. Might get hate for that, but it's too easy to abuse and become overbearing.
I couldn't agree more. Not everyone elected is going to have a strong faith and we can't blindly believe what they tell us. We can't possibly know what's in their hearts. Just look what the Pope has done.
Excellent comment and important sentiment.
Christian values (i.e., the Earthly elements of Christ's teachings) are universal and shared in large part by decent, healthy human beings around the globe. The supernatural elements of Christianity or of any other religion are human attempts to comprehend the incomprehensible, and naturally there are different opinions (and often strong feelings) about that.
But fostering compassion and brotherhood including the protection of children, is easy to understand and REQUIRED for any healthy society.
THOSE elements, the Earthly (and as it happens, scientifically known to be beneficial) elements, must be strongly protected by any government that actually serves the people. That means serious protection of life, liberty, and property rights plus the non-coercive fostering of healthy values.
this comment is highly underrated! have a doot fren
I've heard that one of the earlier drafts of the Constitution was that the government could respect no denomination of Christianity over another. I think it's telling that the Founders themselves backed that off to simply be religion. Government mandated religion always becomes rife with corruption.
I think it would be interesting if Christians were allowed to have one nation somewhere on Earth. Even if it was just a small island that’s currently empty. Just to see how well it does.
But it’s not allowed. Other religions, fine. Have a nation. Have an ethnostate. But for Christianity, it’s forbidden and for white people, it’s forbidden. All the authorities of Earth would rise up against a Christian ethnostate and bomb it out of existence.
Why that is is up to everyone to speculate for themselves. My own hunch is that it would have to be destroyed because it would be too good. They don’t want the idea expanding and direct evidence of success would go a long way towards that.
Just look at the Catholic church. You have a man standing in the place of God and is corrupt. That's why God is the head of the church and not some official claiming that they are ruling in the interest of God.
Wasn't Lebanon suppose to be a Christian nation in the middle east? Unfortunately, Islamists made sure that did not happen.
So assuming this experiment succeeds, what happens when non-white people want to join and contribute to this new society? We tell them to piss off or wipe them out?
