This guy was no amateur with a rifle. He only missed because Trump turned. It only takes seconds to acquire a target when you know where to look. The SS even if alerting would have been scanning the whole roof and maybe more roofs than just the one. They shot fast, but he was faster because they didn't know where he would come up.
The angle from the building to the podium wasn't that drastic. He could have shot point on at that distance. He had the right elevation on the shot, but Trump moving saved his life.

A true pro would have taken one shot, and I doubt a true pro would have been taking a shot from out in the wide open.
And Somehow also has experience shooting downhill with is also its own skillset.
