...No? What?
The question was asked if he was considered to be a future trump treasury secretary, and he responded "He is somebody that I would consider, sure."
It's not a lie for the media to report on that, since it's what he said.
Saying "I get along great with zelinski" doesn't mean "I would consider him for treasury secretary."
He was talking about good meeting, a love fest Then a nonsqueter of a question and says "oh sure, I would consider them." Rather a broad statement and absolutely no commitment that would lead anyone to think they'd made the finalist list. Hubbub over nothing. Like he gets along with zelinsky but he doesn't mean they're best friends, which I intended as an analogy.
It's not a non-sequitur at all. The original question was about the treasury secretary, then the love fest answer, then the followup question that once again asked if he was being considered for treasury secretary, and he said he'd consider it.
Of course that doesn't mean commitment. The media reported that he was being considered, which comes from trump's own words.
Look at OP's article:
This is directly a quote from the interview. It's not a lie, it's specifically what he said in the interview with Bloomberg, that he may be considering him for the position
