Well, you are right about that. It didn't work out well, but not at the fault of the man with the kid. He was accosted by 2 police officers who by all accounts were looking for someone to violate. They even said so in the video. "No you aren't doing anything wrong, but..." This is the entire point. The second that man stood to defend his kid and his rights those cops lost their cool and decided they were going to be obeyed. Period. This is the problem. Cops should know, and I argue they do know, but are trained not to accept or recognize a citizens rights. This is why they become combative way before the civilian.
I don't want to argue with you and I see your point. I am of the belief that if we don't stand for our rights we don't have any, because that is exactly how they will treat us. In fact this video and thousands of others are instructions for the population.
Maybe it takes 10 years of people getting abused and violated until we get these bad cops out of office. File lawsuits every time. Get the community involved. This has to stop!
I agree with everything you wrote above. Everything.
My only point (which I didn't make very well) is that all people would do well to have better situational awareness (especially this dad who risked being separated from his child) and know when to stand up for our rights in the moment, and when to stand up for our rights in a later moment.
