If the "burner" is used near your home, work, or "normal" phone, the metadata will reveal the correlation.
Additionally, do not call anyone from both phones. See a story about the recent att data leak where text "to/from" and call "to/from" information was taken. That customer data was from 2022, so it is kept forever.
There are many discussions and books on spycraft to get familiar with before spending money that does not move you forward.
A couple of years ago I did just that for a neighbor. She's elderly and disabled and called me from another person's phone to say her phone wasn't working. So I went over to Walmart and got an inexpensive smart phone (less than $50) and bought a card with minutes and data. Set it up for her then texted her daughter (in another state) to let her know her mom's new phone #. She was on her daughter's plan so that bought the daughter time to figure out what to do. But meanwhile my neighbor had a phone.
So unless rules have changed, it is possible to get a cell phone and minutes with cash :)

I want to revive an old YouTube channels' concept and turn it into substack instead. On my old channel I exposed a scammer who was scamming for money from his followers, while in the Philippines. Meanwhile someone sent one of his rants against their BI to BI lol.
I want to do exposes on various topics. Have a great theme and theme song, but I will startup in a week or so, I'm retiring for awhile.

Get a bag that blocks cell signals or get a model with a completely removable battery. Never use it at home or work. Put your own phone in a signal blocking bag prior to using the burner. Don't let your signal overlap. It will be complicated to completely cover your tracks.
Do not use fingerprint and cover the cameras. This includes IR sensors and stuff.
