"The fact that Hamill's career as an actor in Hollywood rather died soon after Star Wars"
This is easy to explain. He has no talent outside of his voice acting. Even Ginger Lynn Allen did a better job than him in the Wing Commander games.
Also, Hamill was in a bad car accident either during or after filming Corvette Summer I think it was ... it fucked his face up bad ... that doesn't help in Hollywood ... especially when you have no talent.
I wish the faggot would have stuck with Eight is Enough personally.
The place has had more than a few almost fully talentless actors who, in spite of that, have had long lasting careers with several main roles in big budget movies, so that alone isn't necessarily a reason. It's not as if the place worked solely on the principles of a meritocracy...
Very true ... Gwyneth Paltrow is a prime example of that phenomena.
Hamill went straight to budget flicks / direct to video quality movies after Star Wars though ... I don't recall him ever getting any other "big" role.
No, and that does seem a bit suspicious as he was pretty popular right after Star Wars, and might have been useful in drawing audiences if he had gotten some roles similar to Luke Skywalker right after that. It kind of seems as if he might have pissed somebody off.
But in what way, again, who knows. It might have been sort of good, like him refusing to do or take part in something dirty. Or maybe he cheated on his wife with the girlfriend of some mogul and pissed the boyfriend off so badly that he decided to ruin Hamill's career for that. No way to know, I suppose.
