35 trillion dollar debt, 30% of tax revenue going to interest on debt.War with China who is the largest nation state holder of US debt TBills? The whole thing is just so ridiculous. The war could only last a week or two tops, probably end in nuclear exchange.Everyone loses.
Not to mention they can end our manufacturing supply chain instantly.
While we make more and more in the US each year, there are still a lot of critical items made in China. With that being said, we as a manufacturing base can step up to meet the needs for most items. We don't do it today because we can't be competitive, but we have the technology.
We don't have the supply chains required, and you can't just retool factories at a whim for everything.
For example, take medicine and tech: China already manufactures the vast majority of the world's antibiotics, which is itself a major security risk that has been pointed out for years to no avail.
If China takes Taiwan, fabrication of complex technology drops to very low levels for us -- and fabs are complex and cost many, many fiatbux to build not to mention time as seen with Intel's AZ plants.
Warring just isn't feasible for us as we've been crippled from within.
Of course, all of that would have been avoided if we had elected officials who were focused on making this country great instead of weakening it for decades.
I do not disagree with you.
We have a lot of skill in this country and like I said, we can make most items, but we are screwed for a lot of very critical items.
