Yes, I like the idea. But in my experience my 100% CNG vehicle performed exactly as a gasser would have, and I really loved it. Circumstances changed, otherwise I would still have it. I can see where a dual fuel car would overcome the lack of CNG filling stations, and indeed this is what a lot of cars used to do in Brazil (and maybe still do). They had a gasoline tank and an ethanol tank, iirc.
But what I'd really like to see is for us to stop fucking around wasting money building EV charging stations that make no sense and instead build CNG stations that make a lot of sense.
I totally agree. It could literally be a separate pump at a gas station, like they did with diesel. Normal pressure line to the pump and the pump is the compressor. Piece of cake.
They even have them for the home, but they are like $30k dollars. Which is ridiculous. TPTB do not want you taking inexpensive low pressure CNG from your house and fueling your car with it by ramping up the pressure.
This is a different product than the one I had researched back then, so I have no idea what this one costs. But it does what I am describing: steps up household CNG to the pressure needed to fill a CNG vehicle's tank.
