Here's my idea..Since the hard working farmers have been feeding us all this time. They should participate in the Marijuana profits. Why should they be denied this cash crop? 5% to 10% of gross sales should go into a fund that is distributed to Farmers year round. This will help cover monthly payments during the leaner months on the farm. Each farm gets 1 unit of participation for every 100 acres up to 300 hundred acres of active farms. I recommend having 400 acres and let 100 acres go fallow every year to lower the need for fertilizers with smart crop rotation and soil conservation. This way the wealth is spread out and it will help keep the costs of food down.

All the rope used against the high treason should be proudly grown American Hemp. You could even auction off the rope after. People would want that framed on their walls..
Rather than a tax that raises the price to the consumer and strips earnings from the dispensory owner which could go to paying the workers better wages so they have more money to buy more food from the farmers...
Consider lowering the regulations and stigma around growing it so the farms can grow it themselves in the off season and not lose any federal funding, loss of banking access, and things like that.
Farmers would have to follow the same rules on processing to ensure its safe for consumption of course, they'd have to sell their bulk output to a processor for testing and packaging. Concentrates, oils, flower, as long as its tested for pesticides and contamination.
The new product on the market would help stabalize the pricing, Small boutique growers and hobbyists would still be in demand like microbrewerys. Infused products would become more reasonably priced.
There is a bigger picture in the design. If this system is implemented, there might not have to be welfare for the Farmer. This profit sharing might be enough to covers costs during rough seasons. You could change it that for every 100 acres they "Actively Farm", they have the Rights to license X amount of plants to a corporate grower. Again, why should anyone but Farmers be allowed to profit huge off of growing Marijuana? It's an honor to have a comment from someone who comments very little..;)
This idea was a revenue sharing and not a tax. It was only for active farms. Any farm not active will not get any participation shares. How many 100 to 300 acre farms are active in the USA? Divide that by 7.5% of the gross sales of all Marijuana sold in the USA. Ideally, it will help reduce interest expenses on Farms because they have a supplemental income helping pay down debt. This will indirectly help reduce food costs.
I like the idea of helping & encouraging farmers, especially the small farmer but do we have to have another tax? All that does is make the need 4 more bureaucracy. Let's encourage farmers by getting off their backs! Let them grow & sell whatever they want to and yes, let them grow pot if they want to. If won't be a cash crop for long if everyone grows it, you know. how the market will do it's magic. We will have a lot of cheap pot everywhere. If the price drops that low, it won't make more people smoke it, in fact,it's more likely to do the opposite. What it will do is encourage more research into it. CDB oil is said to cure cancer & do other things like that. People will find use for something that is cheap & plentiful. Also, we will have a lot of good strong cheap rope! That alone will relieve the nylon rope / petro biz, which will be another way in which gas & heating oil will stay low & lower sti.l...
It's a Revenue sharing, not a tax. If you're going to buy weed, why not have some of the profits go into the pockets of the People who grow the food we eat. CBS oil has been sold in the USA for years. I prepared the cash flow projections & financial statements for a CBD plant being built in Portugal a few years back. This group were the first to bring it into Brazil where some of the cost was covered by Medicare for the individuals buying it for medical purposes.

This is a great idea!
Thanks phantom, I enjoy many of your posts and comments..
Glad you get some value from them!
I don't think this will change state laws.
The federal law is being ignored anyway.
Make Hemp Great Again! It has so many uses.

So you dont want them to have to produce a crop of marijuana, you want more farmer welfare?

I just grew up on a farm and get sick of all the games with government money.
So many people make a living never intending to make a crop or even having the capability to do it. Yet they are raking in the money.
We always just grew crops and sold them.
