It was like this all the way back in high school: you only saw minorities having lunch with the white kids if they were the only one of their kind around, otherwise there were tables that were all blacks, all Asians, all Hispanic, etc.
I saw that also, but white kids who were southern Baptist or their dad was a preacher fully sat at the black table no issue. They went to church together. It’s a culture thing not necessarily skin.
It's a 'they knew each other' thing. If they didn't know each other in advance, they'd likely have followed the trend and sat at a table with people who look like them.
