Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
...they are really "bad" for your health now...
...howls...
I know… I totally get it because like I said it’s been six months or a year since I’ve actually been inside a Circle K. If I have a sweet tooth, I bake my own baked goods, so I know what’s in them.
I think it was last Halloween. We had a harvest festival at our church, and I got some free candy. I don’t think I even ate it because it didn’t taste the same. My mom said the same thing. So not only is the candy more expensive now, it doesn’t even taste good.
It’s no secret here I have a sweet tooth, even after changing my diet. I used to love brown sugar and would taste it when baking. I tasted some recently and it tasted like chemicals. Funny after you stop eating the toxic food it doesn’t taste good anymore.
This is so spot on!
The other day, I bought a pizza special that includes a drink, so I got a Dr Pepper. When I got home I told my mom this tastes likes chemicals. 🤢
Because we don’t eat and drink this way every day, it’s so obvious.
My senior year I drank Dr Pepper a lot and loved it. My daughter & husband still drink it occasionally. It’s so gross now.
I occasionally enjoy a soda especially in summer, a few years ago, (more than a few but time flies when you are as old as I am), I stopped drinking or eating anything with high fructose corn syrup. After doing that for just the first 6 months, I was at a BBQ and thats all the kind of soda they had in the big cooler, I drank liked 2 sips of the high fructose and it tasted toxic to me. When I want a coke, like the 3 I drink in a year, the local general store carries "mexican" cokes, made with cane sugar, and the bottles are glass, in a "normal" sized bottle, 12oz.
It’s amazing how bad things taste when you stop consuming poison. I used to drink diet Sierra Mist and Diet Pepsi if I taste anything with artificial sweeteners it’s so gross. Ketchup tastes very sweet now and strangely mustard tastes better than ever. I saw a post today saying the number one baby formula has 42% corn syrup and the next ingredient is soy, it’s Abbott not sure of the name, probably simulac. Great way to get babies addicted to sugar.
...that would "bug" me...
Yep 🙌
