"In addition, sacred clowns serve an important role in shaping tribal codes. Unbound by societal constraints, heyókȟan are able to violate cultural taboos freely and thus critique established customs.[5] Paradoxically, however, by violating these norms and taboos, they help to define the accepted boundaries, rules, and societal guidelines for ethical and moral behavior. This heyoka term reminds me of the concept of a court jester. They were the only ones who could joke about the king, his reign, or problems within the kingdom to highlight the problems to the king without getting in trouble. exactly, the character is necessary, to keep the plot moving forward, can find examples throughout cultures.
And one of my favorite Q hints; the definition of Heyoka contains the word 'contrarian' and there happens to be a JFK Jr. quote with that word;
“I have,” says Kennedy, “a slight contrarian impulse I can't seem to shake.”
Contrarian streak?
“Sometimes the weight of expectations, of doing anything, can be a little bit heavy,” Kennedy says. “For me, it's always sort of fun to try to play with the blocks and see what you can come up with that's a little different."🐸
