My siblings and i are products of public education + PARENTING.
large family = no $$$ for private school, so mom and dad tutored and expanded our brains at home in addition to the indoctrination.
Yes, I am not surprised. The southern kids are very smart though. I met many intelligent young people here in the south.

WA state passed an over-reaching Sex Education law for schools in early 2020. There was a mass exodus to private and home schooling. Then the covid lockdowns and there was another mass exodus. I'd say the cream of the crop has been removed from the public schools.

And I bet 98% of the kids cannot write in cursive or read cursive. What a shame our government has intentionally dumbed down our most precious resource....the kids.
Take them out of pubic school. They can be smart, but not from public school.
They are not teaching cursive- sauce: friend is 5th grade teacher in Puyallup (south of Seattle)

It's worse than you think. I'm my state, just 15% were at grade level for math and less than 50% were at level for English. I think the system has gone down hill in general.
A teacher friend told me part of the reason was due to the number of immigrants coming in from other countries. Hard to be on level if you don't have the foundation.
That's really sad.
This is not a failure. It's a success. We just don't that destruction is the goal.
Oh right. But here is some good thing though. Most smarter children cannot be brainwashed any more. They have gone to private, charter or homeschool now.

Hope still exists- 17-20 schools are scheduled for closing in the Seattle School District alone- too many students have left for private and home schooling...the pain has to arrive at your front step before it becomes real...
