So what? A bunch of crap we don't need. The overwhelming majority of both imports and exports for the US are to and from Canada and Mexico. I think a strike would be a net positive in the move to on-shore the manufacturing of everything we need right here in the US.
I can't say I entirely disagree...though it would certainly involve disruptions in supply chain for the things we DO need to "move to onshore the manufacturing of everything we need."
It will also have ripple effects on railroad/truck transport, drayage rates, and a whole lot more.
MTG is framing this hysterically, and I wish she'd stop. WHEN can we have political figures who approach stuff with reason, calm, and leadership, instead of headline grabbing? And the constant drip drip drip of doomer negativity that is so bad for people's mental and physical health.

I beg to differ. Her sense of urgency for a potential economic disaster is warranted. Biden or his puppet masters could do something about this but he says he will not. Perhaps we don't need all those things on those cargo ships but a lot of them we Do need...ie. electrical parts for vehicles, appliances, hvac systems...not to mention the trucking jobs that could come to a complete stand still...oh and more inflated prices too. The potential strike is a big deal...more people need to get vocal about this and headlines may be the only way to get people informed. Having said all that, completely agree that reason, calm and leadership are certainly in order...though seemingly in short supply.
I see your point and agree about the supply chain issue. But port management (which is frequently globalist) isn't going to respond to hysterical tweets, and neither are the unions representing American longshore workers (who are in fact increasingly put upon in a global neofeudal system).
And let's not forget Chyna's massive investment in US ports. It is very much in their interest to cause chaos in an election year...so why isn't MTG talking about THAT?
Just search on a term like
chinese investment us ports
and you can see that the CCP has its tendrils in EVERYTHING from port infrastructure to tech to gantry cranes.
And the Dems are in cahoots with Chyna at every step of the way.
This is a situation that needs the coolest possible heads and reactions, not this hysteria.
Not if you are on a carnivore diet. Then we can eat domestic cattle without too much of a price increase. The illegals will be hurting for their food, but who cares? If they get hungry enough they can go back home and harvest all the bananas they can. As for me, I don't care if the longshoremen go on strike or not. I'll still have my job, others in my store might not, so no big deal to me or my family.

Yeh, call back us old guys to get the machines running again.

Points well taken! and you've given me some research items as well. Thank you.
This is the time of year when a lot of fresh produce starts coming in from Central & South America. That could push grocery prices up.

Well, not everyone is on the carnivore diet, (and if I were, I'd go with bison over beef every time).
There are a lot of good, honest American incomes tied to imported produce. And this could have a negative effect on them.
The wetbacks will go to grocers who import from mexico. This shouldn't bother them much at all. At least not in southern states.
My meds got here today, let it burn
