Answer is very easy. Iran and Russia have complete receipts of where each hit landed and what assets were targeted. If they try to fake it, they will be royally embarrassed.

When you keep repeating to yourself what you want to believe, and keep defining and redefining words and semantics just so that your perceived reality matches your convenience, does it ever give you the comfort you crave?
From my own experience working with emotionally challenged people, this is just a temporary fix, and infact leads to pent-up frustrations. Of course, you may be the only exception.
