Ya know, this has me so pissed off I could spit. From afar I've watched similar shit with the La Haina and California DEW fires and now this with modified Helene for a lithium-greed land grab. The difference here is that I am a lot closer than Hawaii and California. Not real close, about a 12-hour drive. I'm old but I got a 4 WD pickup truck, a plow on it, some chain saws and other tools, camping stuff, and two adult sons I could probably talk into taking a week off of work to go down there and help even one family set up temporary shelter or clear trees and mud or whatever. But I feel like just the three of us would be like trying to move a mountain with a teaspoon.
If anon(s) comes across any locals in the affected regions who are organizing out-of-state citizen volunteer laborers, please post their contact info by tagging me in this thread.

There certainly is! I belong to various jeep groups in this area (local membership in the thousands). ALOT of our jeeps have been built to go anywhere..think of a land version of the Cajun navy. We've been clearing paths or making paths to most of the worst hit areas, delivering donated supplies, every single day since this event. We ain't asking permission...
Thanks for telling me about this. I know and seen videos of groups of people just a rolling in and don't ask permission whatsoever. Don't quote me on this, but I think they are now threatened enough they no longer can threatened others because there's just too many coming in with copters, vehicles, drones.
Local churches in small, rural communities know everybody and where they live. They are good donation drop-off sites. Quite a few now have generators and are preparing food. If the churches haven't seen or received info about their people, groups are using ATV's or going on foot. For many of the inhabitants of the Appalachian Mountains there are no paved roads (even before Helene). There's paths, trails, and maybe gravel roads (single lane). Ah, almost forgot: this is also moonshine territory so LEO's, government, and strangers are viewed as trespassers and may be shot.
