It makes no sense. She is creating an October surprise against her own husband for your absolutely no reason. Why now? Why exactly one month before the election? This is not a coincidence. Sure, I know that she is not president of the United States, but it sure puts a bad taste in my mouth. I always assumed that Donald was moderately pro life and I assume that his Catholic wife was strongly pro-life and would essentially keep him in line.
It's creating conflict and it feels like a middle finger to her husbands greatest supporters.
Boy was I wrong. Does anyone have any rationale for the timing of her pro-choice announcement?
Maybe it’s a counter to the Dems claim President Trump will sign a nationwide abortion ban. Or, maybe it really is what she believes and he simply disagrees with her.
It also could be one way to court/reassure those women who do think - or might be persuaded to think - that at least completely banning abortion is denying them one of their fundamental rights. The fact that Trump hasn't tried to stop, much less force, his own wife from saying that should look good to them, and lessen the credibility of the claims that he is a tyrant who is going to take your freedoms by forcing some sort of Christian fundamentalist theocratic state on America ala "The Handmaid's Tale". Remember all those pictures of cosplaying women dressed as the "handmaids" during his first term?
This is pretty much telling that he is not going to force his own ideas, or those of some of his supporters, on this issue on the country, but will just let the voters of each state to vote for what they want.
Well stated, Akka. This is how I see it as well. We all have our own opinions on matters, and we learn and grow from our mistakes. Let’s just see how this plays out.
Thank you.
