Don't mail them take to the court house drop off orwherever you learn is the official drop off box. Or hand carry to polling place. Be aware that it is supposed to be one person's ballot dropped off by the voter. Officially. :)
I know it takes 12 days for my mail to get to our state capital about 120 miles away when there are no holidays or weather issues. I know my neighbors and I get each others mail in our box at least once a week. I know that half my envelopes arrive open. I know they leave a card in my box to pick up a package at the post office when the package is the size of a deck of cards. I know it costs me about $40.00 to mail just about any package anywhere. My mother in law complains about the cost of stamps all the time, I dont even care about that - I just want them to do their job! Another agency that needs torn down and rebuilt from the ground up.
I have an old friend who retired from USPS about 5 years ago - she warned me that they were hiring workers to monitor people's incoming and outgoing mail and she suspected also emails. Whole groups of people were hired that were not doing "regular" postal worker duties and it was pretty hush hush. Anyway - she moved away and I didnt have room for another "conspiracy theory" in my brain but I think about it sometimes.
The post office will often still deliver election mail even with insufficient postage. In fact, if it gets too close to election day, they'll even overnight election mail.
If you're voting by mail, 1) ask for a post mark from the clerk, and 2) mail your ballot well in advance of election day to give sufficient time for delivery.
No problem doing that. If you did go to the post office you can buy the "additional ounce" stamp for much less. But we're really only talking about a difference of 50¢ or so.
I still bring mail ballots to the post office so I can see them put that postmark on it.
Completed ballots, in their envelopes, properly signed, can also be dropped into the election bin outside the election office. USPS is so sketch.
No postage is needed if you do that.

The usps is not to be trusted
Results may vary. My mother's was postage paid in michigan.
USPS - I sometimes forget they work for the dems.
OH their Union came out for them last time! Can we even trust the mail? One reason I always voted in person on Election Day!
We can't trust that we will even be able to get to the polls on election day anymore due to "weather" etc.

During and after covid, I got notices after notices of bills not paid that I had mailed ON TIME! The old reliable Post Office FAILED us!

There was a lot posted about the Post Office concerning the stolen election. How can we trust any federal agency at this point?!? so sad.

Don't trust that. Find out where in your town (probably courthouse) has an official box to put ballots in ( in sealed signed envelope)
Sure, but OP is ArmyLady and likely voting from a location far away from home 🤷♂️
I put on the extra stamp. Leaving hopefully nothing to chance or to the bureaucracy. Well I guess they are entitled to the extra postage . . .

But to each their own

Vote in person
always do but may have to be away on election day this year
That's racist. Black people don't know how to buy stamps.
