I don't know how it is where she lives, but here it's prohibiited to wear any kind of political regalia in a polling place.

This isn't anything out of the ordinary. Every time I've ever voted it was made clear that nothing political could be showing on your body while voting or it could be charged as "electioneering"

In fact - this is the relevant part of Georgia's law ( https://law.justia.com/codes/georgia/title-21/chapter-2/article-11/part-1/section-21-2-413/ ):

(d) No person, when within the polling place, shall electioneer or solicit votes for any political party or body or candidate or question, nor shall any written or printed matter be posted within the room, except as required by this chapter. The prohibitions contained within Code Section 21-2-414 shall be equally applicable within the polling place and no elector shall violate the provisions of Code Section 21-2-414.
