Ron White said it best when talking about Tiger, "once a man gets a taste for strange, he can't shake it. It's like a dog that likes killing chickens. Once he starts it's all he wants."
It's a pretty accurate thing for the porn addicted too.
For example, we've seen a rise in child content of various kinds across social media -- Reddit, Twitter, Mastodon, Threads, most recently Bluesky.
After seeing first- and second-hand people succumbing to it (and fortunately not offending beyond viewership and instead getting actual help) as well as a deep dive into the psychological effects of a porn addiction, you start to see one major trend:
People develop tastes that are further and further taboo. I'm not just talking about hands, feet, whatever but much more than that.
When you let yourself go down that rabbit hole, you will often find yourself more and more degenerate (because that's what degeneracy is) with worse and worse interests.
Because you become increasingly desensitized to what you're viewing, and eventually it doesn't do it as well or as fast as something new would.
Eventually, the self aware make a choice to acknowledge the problem and back down and crawl out, or dive in deeper. The people who aren't aware or exist in denial of the very real effects that an addiction like that causes will continue to slide deeper.
Eventually where that road goes, well...we see that. Bluesky has the issue right now.
Which of course is why I am in favor of at least figuring out a proper age gate system that makes sense for both privacy and actually keeping children from acquiring this addiction early -- even if it can only reasonably stop the "legitimate" businesses like Pornhub from being accessed by children.
The earlier you dive into that addiction, the less likely you are able to be self aware and back off of it.
TL;DR: This obviously turned into a longer post, but yeah. Protect kids, don't let them taste "strange". Spread awareness of the effects of porn addiction. It goes far deeper than just semi-temporary brain damage.
Even Christian kings of England have been known to.
It is the weakness of power. At least we supposedly get to vote for the flawed, instead of having them installed to rule over us.
