Get checked for sleep apnea. Not going into REM sleep cause weight gain because the internal organs are not being renewed, and the body believes it is starving. Sleep apnea leads to heart issues, and diabetes with the weight gain.
Try Magnesium and Vitamin D. The Magnesium will help with the Sleep apnea (like miniature seizures - and those spasms are a symtom of Mg deficiency). The Vitamin D will regulate the sleep as well.
Also, stop eating sugar, and carbs, as those rob you of Magnesium. And don't drink black tea - that can also make those symptoms.
