Ukraine could be extremely useful to the US because it is brimming with valuable natural resources and is willing to negotiate an agreement with Washington on extraction, Senator Lindsey Graham has said.
The Republican senator from South Carolina told Fox News that the Ukraine conflict is ultimately āabout money.ā An extract of the interview was published on the senatorās YouTube channel on Wednesday. āYou know that the richest country in all of Europe for rare earth minerals is Ukraine?ā he said, estimating the worth at 2 to 7 trillion dollars.
Graham added that Ukraine is ready to ādo a deal with us,ā but not Russia. āSo itās in our interest to make sure that Russia doesnāt take over the place,ā he said, describing Ukraine as the ābreadbasket of the world.ā
āWe can make money and have an economic relationship with Ukraine. It would be very beneficial to us, with peace,ā Graham went on to say. āDonald Trump is going to do a deal to get our money back, to enrich ourselves with rare earth minerals. A good deal for Ukraine and us.ā
The president-elect, he added, will also help settle the conflict by concluding an āhonorable dealā that would avoid āhumiliatingā Russian President Vladimir Putin and setting the stage for another conflict.
āDonald Trump knows how to end wars. All Joe Biden knows how to do is start wars,ā he said.
Graham is known for his hawkish stance on aiding Ukraine and containing Moscow. In February, he was added to Russiaās list of āterrorists and extremistsā, after the senator advocated for designating Russia as a āstate sponsor of terrorismā. In 2023, Moscow expressed outrage over Grahamās remarks during a meeting with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, when he said: āThe Russians are dying. The best money weāve ever spent.ā
In mid-October, Zelensky presented his āvictory plan,ā which stated that Kiev is ready to sign with its Western backers āa special agreement on the joint protection of the available critical resourcesā in Ukraine.
Earlier this month, Mikhail Podoliak, a top adviser to Zelensky, also stressed that Ukraine has ādeposits of rare minerals, such as lithium and titanium, which we can exploit together [with the US].ā
Trump has vowed to quickly end the Ukraine conflict. Media reports have suggested that he may try to force Ukraine to drop its NATO ambitions and negotiate a freeze of the conflict. Moscow has ruled out a freeze along the current front line, insisting that all the objectives of its military operation must be achieved.

Why should those living within the lands of Ukraine pay the price owed by the Deep State? Most of the money sent to Ukraine was paid to deep state oligarchs overseas and within the USA.

I donāt mind if part of the deal would be to pay us back for all the billions of $$$ Biden and congress had sent to Ukraine and if they are broke then their natural resources may be used for this purpose. They owe us. But beyond that itās not ours to keep.
Do you really think that the average Ukrainian citizen actually received any of that money? Congress voted against an oversight committee on Ukraine money for a reason.

It is a neighborly dispute. Putin claimed Ukraine was in possession of land that originally belonged to Russia. He just want back what is theirs. Ukraine put up a fight because they didnāt want their cesspool of criminal activity exposed. If there are natural resources worth $$$ Iām betting he wants that back too. We only got involved because our politicians are knees deep into Ukraine corruption and didnāt want to be exposed or loose that foothold.

I donāt want to do anything with Ukraine. Most all the Israelis there from Palestine.
So, it was never about "muh Democracy" and all about the land's "hidden" resources, like usual for the assholes. How about, lets just reclaim the resources we already have on OUR soil and allow the countries in THAT area figure it all out and benefit form the resources on THIER soil. Why do certain countries HAVE to have control of resources across the globe? Only "Deal" should be one that pays the US back any and all money sent to the country and if that country has then that great resource, let it make deals how it wishes to prosper the area, they gonna need a shit ton more money to rebuild as it is. Trump can not get into office fast enough. At this point, I don't care who has the land over there, Russia or Ukraine, the PEOPLE that live on that land will prosper from it, regardless of the Country, right now, they just dying. Peace deal that includes the resource that is being fought over and killing everyone should be included in the deal of course as far as Ukraine does get a share of the profit off it even if Ukraine loses the land. IDK.. I just know the PEOPLE living in the area should be the ones that in the end see improved lives long term.

Hey, that is an excellent idea for a new "tour idea." Many people pay money to tour WWII battle fields, or holy sites. I think someone should offer a travel package entitles, "Piss on your enemies graves", which visits the graves of infamous politicians and historical figures.
Or maybe someone should develop an app that directs one to these sites.
