I can tell you that UAkron charges $1,500 for a 3 hour calc I class. For that you get a part time teacher who is a retiree from the local school district who sees less than 1% of the money paid by all the students in class. That class works out to $500/hr.
FYI, my first semester my freshman year at the University of Akron was $292.50 for 16.5 hours of courses in 1975. The same course load at the same university in 2024 was $7,500, not including parking nor housing nor textbooks. I paid for my undergraduate years working at a local family owned grocery store, being in the army reserve, and I got book discounts by being on a varsity sports team despite not having a scholarship. Akron was DII back then.
I remember going to college in '81 and had to pay about $40/credit hour. I wonder what it is today.

OUCH! How do kids afford this nonsense? No wonder they are $100k+ in debt after they graduate.
I hear it's about $37000 a years for public school, and almost $50000 a year for private.
