This whole thing reminds me of the last Avengers movie where Dr. Strange sees all the options, and picks this bizarre series of choices that end up being the only way things could have worked out.
“Trust Wray” doesn’t have to mean he’s always going to do the right thing, or that he’s an honest man, it could also mean that he can be relied on to do what needed to be done, and those things don’t necessarily have to appear to be in our favor at the time.
He didn’t confirm that Wray is gonna be fired, despite of being asked twice.
He did confirm that Kash is going to take his place.
Perhaps Wray being a trust Wray guy and Kash becoming his boss (with someone below Wray being fired) is an option as well.
