They all well remember the 'lock her up' chants and expect this to filter down to them as well. They stand to lose everything and even their freedom, and perhaps their lives, is now on a countdown clock.The only move left to them is chaos.
Cornered animals are unpredictable and will fight to the death. They will burn it all down to rule over the ashes.
This is the best explanation to date and the most logical one. Speaking from experience, the DoD have assets that can easily counter UAP/Drones. We have the ability to track and monitor and to down or capture them relatively easy employing the many different systems employed. I've witness said systems in action and know for a fact they work.
So with the systems being DoD assets hunting for rogue UAPs makes sense as to why the secrecy or reluctance to be transparent in order to maintain control over chaos.
