DEI hires don't deserve a 40% pay increase.
No one deserves a 40% increase unless he/she has a proven track record. Elon might deserve that.
How about, live within your means? Average is 55 a year, so make your three times that much work for living main residence at home and roommate up when in DC or something. They demand to be paid 40% more to keep up with cost of living so, they are saying we all would need a 40% pay raise to do the same eh. How about you people in congress work your asses off to get the cost of living LOWERED, win win for you as well as the rest of us. If you can not do that then, not a pay raise and "your fired" until we can find people who are willing to, can do and WILL do. Get shit done then we talk about a pay raise and it wont be no 40%.. YOU ALL had one LAST year as well.

They’re already making more than the majority of the country. Will ever hope to make. Including many in vaunted STEM and Skilled Trades fields. For a comparative fraction of the work. With the amount of time they have off.
Why in Gods name should they get a Raise of any sort? If anything they should be getting a pay cut.
And were this a Private company. I’d imagine they’d be looking at cutting Congress completely to save money. As since they started tracking approval ratings for Government. Congress has almost continually ranked near the bottom of approval ratings.

My Social Security is lucky to see a 3% raise.

All elected positions should pay the average income for the area they represent. If they want a raise they need to make a difference for the people they represent.

Well, Congress works about 100 days a YEAR and of that, most of their time is spent across the street from the Congress in a building where they are constantly begging for donations so yeah, I guess that would be worth a raise---and then a long drop with a short rope!
