Part of the problem is new. If it not new, then they are just looking for grunts. And a lot of the smart ones don’t fit that category. I experienced a similar problem. Who needs a visionary and experienced systems of systems engineer when there are no new funded programs.
Unfortunately, white males in SW have a major chip on their shoulders. Entry level jobs, where these folks have a nursery school diploma from these woke universities get them six figure salaries, with no experience in life.
I manage many of them and am in the industry... a lot of the new hires, complain, start a bunch of drama and bitch how a peer makes 1-3% more then they do.
Also its rare to find one of them willing to work an hour over 40/week (even w paid OT) and if programs fall behind, it's always someone else's fault.

We have young new hires at work,they have no idea what work is. When they complain,we ask them if their vaginas are hurting....
Other workers should also keep the new guys in line.
