Big problem in dogs is inbreeding. These puppy mills do not care about genetic diversity they only care about color or whatever.

I own mix breeds. I have a rott/shepherd and Lab/Pointer. They are much better behaved than pure breds. I dont need my dog to show off my 'status'.

And most purebreds are working dogs. If you arent going to have them do what they are born to do, dont buy them.

My girl is a Lab/Australian Shepherd mix. Best dog I've ever had the privilege to live with.
