If you read deeply into the article, the "experts" don't really expect tsunamis or any effect on coastal areas. They base this on a similar event that happened with that volcano in 2015. So it's mostly fear porn.
Yea this volcano is the most active in the eastern Pacific and has erupted 3 times since 2011. So its news why? Comms would be the only reason I can see this making the news. Underwater eruptions happen many times each day and we never hear a peep. So whats this trying to convey?
My first thought is that would make Seattle and Portland into hellscapes.
Then I realized it's too late - they're already there. Volcano might be an improvement.
