NO! It's not our fight. Trying to free people in other countries was the excuse that got us into so many wars over the years. Just like WWI it's none of our business. People have to free themselves from oppression.
Jefferson said it best: “Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations...entangling alliances with none” ― Thomas Jefferson
America is the standard-bearer for the free world, and all worldwide who aspire to be part of it - regardless of ethnicity, religion, or nationality. This includes the people of England - the country that gave us Magna Carta, yet no longer upholds the principle of free speech.
Of course Elon is using rhetorical hyperbole here!
But his basic premise stands - by leading the way with truth and opening the eyes of millions, the free people of Britain will vote out the unhinged tyrants in power and replace them with servants of the people!
Well said.
I agree... we need to liberate ourselves first before we turn our attention to others. We have lost so much in the way of our own freedom over the years to where now all states have adopted "UCC"... "CODE" as Law. This was done in the 50's and 60's and all states adopted it by the 70's... that is how recent all of this has happened! This fact alone is why we are such a suppressed people without really realizing it. None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.
We could all migrate to a new way. Blockchain only. No gov involvement. Contracts, sales, patents, titles, record keeping, all of it.
Law does play a part in a society. In our early history of this country most people understood law and how we could use it to organize ourselves. Over the years it has corrupted with the dirty bar. I do agree that we are in a new age and things like bills should be placed in the public square for the people to see and make their voices heard. We have been too complacent which has, in turn, allowed our politicians to be corrupted without consequence. It's time to take some power back, and it starts at the local level.
I agree with you. But sanctions should be in our "tool kit." How 'bout we only deal economically with free countries?
America is the beacon of freedom for the world. If an ally is facing imminent annihilation, it's America's DUTY to step in.
No it is not. We have done enough regime change. America was not designed to be the worlds police.
If he wants to buy Britain fine. If you listened to what Trump said about Canada he's talking about economics, not freeing anyone. We send them too much money ($200B annually) for little return. He isn't trying to "free" them. He also isn't talking about freeing Greenland, it's a strategic location which means it is soon to be vital to our national security. Not to mention it's natural resources. Britain is neither one of those things. If the people aren't willing to sacrifice for their own freedom why in hell would someone else do it. If it isn't worth enough to you to risk your own fortune and lives to free yourself it certainly isn't worth the money and lives of others. To go around trying to free people never works out. The efforts cost lives and money and it never lasts.
