Plane began rolling away from the gate, and the pilot came on the intercom and said... "Welcome to our flight to DC, which is where the 'rich men north of Richmond' are, and if you're unfamiliar with that song by Oliver Anthony then I recommend you check it out."
Then, mid-way through the flight the pilot came on the intercom again to give weather in DC, and then he said "we're looking forward to the inauguration."
When I was walking off the plane he was standing by cockpit and I told him I like that song and he fist bumped me. π
Delta?
Somewhere around the early 2000s my team and I were on a Delta flight coming back out of Atlanta Hartsfield and we were getting ready to take off. The flight attendants made sure everyone was sitting down and seat-belted when the pilot came on over the intercom. He asked everyone to remain seated until the last passenger boarded and was seated. Jimmy Carter walked in with an agent, and back into coach into an empty row. No first class - coach. He stood there letting people get pictures, thanked them, and sat down. He and the agent were the first off the plane at our destination. He seemed to be very gracious.
