For your consideration:
Matthew 5:33-37
33“Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ 34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 But let [n]your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
Hand raised is all required. Roberts hurried everyone and started before Melania could get there. he said in his speech that the nation will follow God.
I heard is hand was on Bible but was missed as phones were in way , news at least reported that he raised his right and placed left on Bible . Although the news lies lol
Please stop all this nonsense.
BLAME ROBERTS he rushed the whole damn thing.
I don't think swearing on a Bible is even...Biblical. Maybe it signals that Trump is in fact not going to be bringing us into any sort of 'Christian Nationalism'
Exactly!
I question if it was because he was sworn in last night just after midnight.
Or after the insurrection in 2021 ?
Where'd you hear this?
Can’t say this enough. People are so entwined into traditions, and it’s those very traditions that are wrong.
According to +++ ..... Trump was the 17th President to be sworn in without a bible... President's Sworn In Without A Bible:
1: Thomas Jefferson (1801): He did not use a Bible, likely out of commitment to the separation of church and state.
2: John Quincy Adams (1825): He swore on a book of laws, symbolizing his commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law rather than a religious text.
3: Theodore Roosevelt (1901): He was sworn in without a Bible after the assassination of President William McKinley while on vacation; the ceremony was rushed, and no Bible was available.
4: Calvin Coolidge (1923): When Coolidge was sworn in following the death of President Warren G. Harding, his father administered the oath without a Bible, adhering to Puritan ethics which frowned upon using objects as symbols of reverence.
17: Donald John Trump (2025):
Reason: TBD
Thomas Jefferson did it right.
