7 years ago I found out that my sons chemo was known to be ineffective and caused secondary cancer but the doctor got a kick back. So it was standard. We pioneered another treatment along with another family. It is more effective protects the bone marrow from damage and inhibits progression. Less side effects too. Still not the first treatment guess why? Disgusting
I hate Dr's. But to be fair these types of incentives are run-of-the-mill. Been happening for a long time. Oxycontin comes to mind as another detrimental case. The docs are stooges in a much larger web of deceit. Pharm companies lobby congress, congress rallies the beaurocracy. The medical journals follow suit.
Drs are just regular people my guy. They aren't mad scientists. They aren't running testing themselves. They have the journals to reference and that's it.
This seems like lazy thinking to me. It's always been this way so we just accept it. No. At the VERY LEAST there should be a law compelling doctors to report to their patients that they receive a financial benefit with certain treatments.
I can't disagree with that. I'm just saying it's no different than it's been. Long before covid this was deemed acceptable. It's only now that more people are waking up to it
I think it's only recently that people even know about it. With many (most?) professions, there are rules that govern ethics. A pro must inform their client about incentives they receive. Most people probably never even considered that their 'friendly family doctor' would take money from pharma to treat them. It's sick.
This is not exclusive to Dr's I must assert. There are lots of industries where someone recieves incentives to sell you something that has a death rate.
I hate most doctors and the medical industrial complex. I need to find a new GP and at least two years overdue for a full physical...but I don't want any of the doctors around me in our large urban area. Wish I had access to a list of "based" doctors and specialists...but I don't think such a list exists.

Fucking small caps. I would have bashed that doctors knees in. They need to pay in blood
Insurance companies: we have no money!!! We operate on razer thin margins!!
Also insurance companies: we'll give you 1.5m for vaccinating your patients which will later for sure bankrupt is in claims
The fear of cancer, fuels the sales of health insurance.
People will be convinced to buy gold tier policies.

nothing "to be fair" or "run-of-the-will" about incentives for killing people.

they are blindly following the pay check...
killing people haphazardly is no excuse.
Are we going to apply that logic to people who sell cars? People who operate carnival rides? The cashier who sells you the cigarettes?
Yes, it's standard procedure. That doesn't make it right. It only makes it harder for them to see how wrong it is, and easier to go along.
A number of doctors have been moving away from this practice.
Of course it doesn't make it right. Not advocating for death and chaos over here.
