I know that looks bad. I'm in Texas and obviously I like it from our perspective.
However - look what happened when he started doing that. Some states (and towns) started freaking out, and some virtue-signaled and said send more. Eventually all of them were pissed enough to start complaining, and citizens started seeing all of their taxes being spent on luxury hotels, food, clothing, and debit cards for the illegals. Even Mayor Adams in NYC changed and started talking with Trump to find a way to stop the illegals. Fast forward to election day and millions of people who probably would not have voted for him actually did so he would stop the invasion.
Would Trump have won if this didn't happen? Probably, but it would've been much closer. The illegals struck a nerve with almost everyone and Abbott helped push it into the forefront when he sent the first bus out of Texas. He probably didn't know that was what would happen, but it eventually did. Dumb luck on his part.
He has done some good things like razor wire and buoys at the border or kicking border patrol off our land around Eagle Pass, but I will still vote for the first candidate that can realistically beat him (and beat abortion Barbie or Beto or whoever the dems try to run next time).
I'm an Austinite for 40 years now. With plans to leave in a year when I retire. Back to the Piney Woods of Texas for me. Abbott is truly a lesser of evils. He's not a conservative where it matters. He's an actor. Aren't they all mostly? Ugh.
So East Texas then, closer to Shreveport than Dallas? I did that. I lived in Round Rock and Liberty Hill for about 20 years, went to MO and FL briefly, and came back but stayed in the east rather than go back to the hill country. I used to like the area but it changed big time. I went to a horns game last year and it was like driving on 5 or 405 in California. Not only the traffic, but the license plates. Ugh.
And now Chicagoans and New Yorkers are anti-illegal. At first glance it was an awful move to distribute them, but it has turned the attitude of Americans. Cut off financial aid and round them up. That can be done anywhere.
It wasn't a defense of Abbott as much as pointing out they're all cowards and worthy of disdain but at least he does something. At least Robert Francis O'Rourke isn't the governor.
There's 48 other governors that suck harder.
Abbott kinda shipped in illegals deeper into our country though...

"There's 48 other governors that suck harder"
...we have a candidate for the top 5 here in Ohio...
...I'm sorry, Abbott may be a decent human, but at his very core, he is a political animal - most of which are chronically tainted morally...
Agreed
Gay Californian dual citizen poleass here in calirado is worse…
