I remember a sunset law being passed around the same time. Congress was supposed to review and renew certain agencies and programs. I don't remember that being an issue the last decades. I did read something today that congress has been appropriating money for things that haven't been authorized. They stopped doing authorization bills and going with extending resolutions about the time of the rise of Nancy p.
It's a cabinet level department. Trump can end it with the consent of congress. He may or may not have the votes at this time but I figure that will change after the mid-terms. What he can do in the meantime is eliminate dept positions and cut funding through the House of Representatives (they control the purse strings). Basically letting it wither on the vine until after the midterms.
If the last statement is true, could suicide weekend be coming?
