The vault at Fort Knox currently holds 147.3 million ounces of gold bullion. That's roughly half the total gold held by the federal government.
There are VERY, VERY few people who can authorize gold removal from that vault. The Treasury owns and runs the security for Fort Knox depository, and keeping the gold reserves is the Treasury Department's responsibility. The president is over the Treasury Department, but even a U.S. President can't unilaterally order gold removed. No member of Congress would even be allowed to visit the vault or see the gold except by presidential order.
All of that said, it's extremely doubtful that any gold is missing and unaccounted for. If any gold is missing, there will be a very short paper trail to who authorized it.
Stealing or debasing physical gold bars from a vault is a very old and frequently played trick by our enemy. Methods include replacing with substitutes that are not pure, and physically removing bars, but creating a facade with a smaller amount of gold bars to make it appear that there is much more gold than is actually there.

I was thinking -a "What if" What if Elon live streams and they find the tunnels and go looking in the tunnels and find God knows what- that would be something. Imagine make it like Geraldo Rivera at the Mob Vault that time getting ready to open it except it will be Elon and all the world is watching to see if the gold is there. That would be crazy. Just a thought
Conspiracy theory: Dump trucks hauling “debris” out of WTC debris site after 9-12 had tarps over them because they were really hauling gold. There is supposedly video of this happening if they have not been scrubbed.

Yeah, anything carrying loose material is supposed to be tarped. Doesn't matter the size. If you've got gravel in a 6ft trailer you can attach to a smart car, it's supposed to be tarped.
I'm sure the operators were instructed to dot every I and cross every T. Told to make sure they had good condition tarps and that they were deployed before moving.
This will see Schiff really start getting worried!!!
