Yes names were removed but no evidence to show it was about removing pedos from the database.
Tighten up your posts sir.
The Justice Department under President Barack Obama forced the FBI to delete the names of more than 500,000 fugitives with outstanding arrest warrants from a background check database,
The pedos were classified under the mental illness category. See the chart in the Snopes link in comments. Unfortunately, I can't locate sauce on that as it seems to be scrubbed from the internet. Information on pedos in this story was more prevalent when the story first broke. Your point is well taken.
The difference between 2016 and 2017 in the category of "Adjudicated mental health" in the charts is 511177. Which seems to correspond to the number removed from "fugitive from justice", BUT the other categories also had increases:
Felony = Approx + 500,000
Under indictment = approx + 60,000
Unlawful user = approx + 7000
Illegal alien = approx + 300,000
etc.
Is there any direct evidence that the individuals under "Fugitive" were transferred to "Adjudicated mental health". I don't see it.
What is "Adjudicated mental health"? One definition: "refers to a legal determination that someone has a mental illness, usually made through a court process where a medical professional assesses their condition and a judge decides if they meet the criteria for a mental health adjudication, often resulting in restrictions or involuntary treatment options depending on the jurisdiction"
So, in the data quoted by Snopes, is there actually anything indicating that a bunch (ie half a million) pedophiles were removed from the background check system, and then re-categorized as "Legally adjudicated as mentally not sane"? I can't see it.
Also, if these people were "pedophiles" - which legally means they have to have committed some act or crime of pedophilia, they would come under felony, no?
I wasn't aware of this story when it broke 8 years ago, so I cannot say there there was or wasn't more information at the time, but the fact that TPV asserts that Obama removed 500000 pedos from the background check system speaks volumes, that this is crap. Because TPV do NOT use real information in their headlines.
If you were paying attention at the time, we can only take your word for it that 'sauce has been scrubbed', but on the basis of the information available, the half million pedo claim seems unjustifiable. IMO.
FWIW, the story, as presented in the other sources, seems to be more about a disagreement about what qualifies as "fugitive" between two agencies, as opposed to Obama forcing anything.
OP in the future please do not post something like this without a link to evidence. Mods will be issuing 1 day bans for this.
