BREAKING: Canada Caves: Ontario Premier Agrees to Suspend Surcharge on Electricity Exports to US a Few Hours After Trump Threate...
In a swift response to rising concerns, Ontario Premier Doug Ford has decided to suspend the surcharge on electricity exports, a move that could have significant implications for the province’s energy market.
why are we buying electric from Canada anyways? we can't generate it ourselves?
Niagra Falls generates a massive amount of power, which makes it a no brainer to import to anywhere it can reach. Michigan has a long history of importing power including from Indiana.
It's like they're allergic to power plants.
yes, we also have Niagra Falls to use and that's why i was wondering why we aren't using it on our side as well?
then i talked to my friend last night and he said it's because USA has shut down most of our power plants.
Sounds accurate. In the move to "green" energy we've shut down a lot of reliable power sources, including coal and nuclear. Ironically both are cleaner and better for the environment than windmills by a lot. Hydro is a very clean power method. It's time we got back to opening these back up and expanded our power supply again.
The biggest issue we face is the same as with oil drilling. Once they're shut down, it takes month/years to spin them back up, and the companies want assurances they won't be forced to just shut them back down again.
It also explains the 2% energy import from there as Michigan is 2% of the 50 states.....
What I heard is done in some places like PNW is that we would buy hydropower during the day instead of using our own peaking plants. Then sell excess fossil generated power back at night. Maybe it's more efficient to throttle hydroelectric plants than combustion plants. They might have a limited amount of water so it makes sense to sell the power for the highest price possible. https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=63684
It’s not even an fight. Canada leaders pop off and no one is worried. They should be worried. As they are. They have no cards to play at this level. Trump is right. Best chance they have is to join the US. Otherwise, enjoy this new way of life. Something Americans are used to. Overpaying for everything!
As a Canadian, I am becoming afraid that our economy is going to collapse and we are going to turn into Venezuela.
The US subsidizes your entire economy, you basically are Venezuela. Canadians just don't realize it, yet. Without your US exports, your economy literally collapses overnight. It's that bad. At least on the bright side, you'll be an American soon. Otherwise, you guys are toast.
That's what I said.
President Trump played the, "My Hand is Bigger Than Your Hand." And Hand can be measured in multiple ways.
FYI A hand is four inches.

Did democrats even get a chance to fawn over this guy for being such a bad ass that Trump was literally shaking and considering resigning snd working on his apology, yet?
🤣🤣🤣
Globalism backfiring on the globalists. It's got to happen. It's hard on Canadians but there is a plan and in the end, hopefully, Canada will be better off too.
Hmmm....
