If you are a constitutionallist, there are very few bills passed in the last 100 years which the federal gov't has any business passing.
There are like, 16-18 things the fed is instructed to do. Everything else is left to the states. If we have 100s of departments, something has gone very wrong.
The bill thing is pretty big tell for what they actually work for.
Like for example, after SCOTUS overturned Roe V Wade: I bet you can name a few dems that protested that decision. But can you name even one that proposed a bill making it federal law?
Because thats literally what SCOTUS told congress to do in the decision: Write a law if you want one. Not even a single democrat proposed a bill. They din't want it to be voted on. They never wanted it. Obama, who actually campaigned on passing it as a federal law because even all those years ago they all knew it would be overturned since SCOTUS can't legally pass laws like Roe and the decision had absolutely no law backing it, changed his mind and told Congress not to write a law for abortion after he was elected. They never wanted it to pass, not then, not now. fact is, if they really cared it would never have happened - under Biden they had full control of both sides of Congress as well as the white house and could have pushed it through or at least shown that they were willing to try. Refusal proves its all just "protest theatrics" but the bills themselves - and lack of - prove actual intention.

That is a big deal. If a bill doesn't pass, then you dont want fraud, extra spending. In truth I wish more didn't pass bills.
