If people are receiving a handout for food, then that’s what they should be purchasing his food. Not candy and soda and garbage. Nutritional food for a family to survive, not privileged sweets and treats.
charity should be handled by the private sector, but if it must be government subsidized, we should ensure it's actually benefiting the families receiving it, not churning out more disability checks int he future...

Us old people actually DO come from a different world than this one. In that world there were Food Stamps to mitigate hunger in America. You could buy food that had to be prepared, but not any food that was prepared and ready to eat, as in anything from a restaurant. Also prohibited was candy, alcoholic beverages, and soft drinks.
I don't know why this is so controversial. Health insurance doesn't cover cosmetic procedures. Only necessities. Sugar is not a food group and anything with high levels of it shouldn't be government funded.

Sugar free does not equal healthy. Quite the opposite when fake chemical sweeteners are used.
In a sane world because artificial sweeteners are far more dangerous than corn syrup, but I seriously doubt that is their motivation.
It’s not being prohibited. They are free to buy whatever they like - just not on government subsidies.
