Good point... And interesting to me because I've recently gone back and reviewed specifically, what moves were made both prior to ww1 and ww1 itself, particularly in the middle east.
In hindsight it's clear they had a one world government agenda back in the late 1800s with the Japanese rising very quickly - slapping around both China and Russia (totally lumped up Russias naval fleet) because they allied with Britain.
But focusing on the ME - so many things occurred and changed hands as the ottoman empire lands were split up. Newly formed Turkey and a number of other states - Saudi Arabia and Iran and British control... Italy getting in on the action in Tripoli etc. Germany building a railroad deep into the middle east...
