That's when he said it was faked and he could prove it. He stopped talking to the police after that. When he was being moved to the lineup downstairs that's when he announced he's just a patsy to the news.

Why did he shoot a cop before going to the theater?
He didn't. The timeline and the route doesn't even make sense for that to have been him. The Dallas police lost him. He was supposed to take the bus, but he got off, and they panicked. They shot Tippett, with two different guns, and three different types of ammunition. This was done to get the cops invested in the manhunt.. they didn't care that Kennedy got killed.. that was a federal issue.. they all cared that one of their own got killed.

He was mostly unemployed. The job at TBSD was only a temporary job that would end at the season. He spent a lot of money on camera equipment. He had two newborn children.
His goal was to get guns and arrive in Cuba. He didn't need a lot of cash for this.

He was told to. JD Tippet was actually at a gas station where the bus would cross into Oak Cliff and when the bus passed he hauled ass off after it. They knew he would be on there. He smartly got himself off of it and took a cab instead.
The lady who ran the boarding house where he went said he was picked up in a police car after leaving. She was interviewed once and then disappeared out of Texas for good.

You miss my point about the money and the bus.
