If anyone IRL complains about Trump's tariffs, ask them why it is unfair to charge the same rate that foreign countries charge us?
Edit: It turns out we are only charging other countries HALF of what they charge us. This should be even easier to understand. Just because everyone else tariffs us and we haven't tariffed most of them, doesn't mean we can start to equalize the playing field.
Looking at the lists, you can easily see who are already fair with trading and who are not, especially amongst allies.
In my opinion, they really stand out as bad actors. The EU as an example. The US rebuilt Europe after WWII with the Marshall Plan, and their way of thanking us has been to rip us off for many decades after they recovered.
For those with already low tariffs on the US, I would expect them to win lots of new business for being fair trading partners. They are already calibrated to succeed with low tariffs. The countries with huge tariffs on the US are basically screwed, as they should be.
Say it with me folks.
RECIPROCAL TARIFFS.

"From 1789 to 1913 we were a Tariff backed economy" π₯
This is very good. I as concerned that the tariffs werenβt reciprocal.
Trump left himself room to impose higher tariffs if other countries don't do his bidding. Pretty smart move, imo.
Great point.
