You think they’re squealing now? I wonder how loud it’ll get if Trump could pull this off. President Trump is asking everyone to share this, in three days, most people in the United States will have seen the message. This is an idea that should be passed around, regardless of political party. The TRUMP Rules: Congressional Reform Act of 2017
- No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. And no more perks go with them.
- Congress (past, present, & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
- Congress must purchase their own retirement plan, just as ALL Americans do.
- Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
- Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
- Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people (i.e. NO MORE INSIDER TRADING!!!).
- All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congress made all these contracts by and for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor and privilege, NOT a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators should serve their term(s), then go home and go back to work … not get all kinds of freebies. NO WONDER THEY’RE FIGHTING EVERYTHING HE TRIES! Pass it on!!!! Let's help TRUMP drain the swamp! Let’s help Trump get the country straightened out! I completely agree with the above. Term limits and treat them like a regular citizen! Pass it on if you agree.
Yup, spot on! Here's a bit of history;
In 1789: The first U.S. Congress set a daily pay rate. Members were paid $6 per day while Congress was in session.
$6 being about $200FRN now.
So they’d be paid about $50-65000 working a full year in modern terms.
that was a ton of money back then...
That was about $27 per hour Compared to the $84/hr now...
I like it - pay only for time on the job.
I think every Congress-critter should be paid what the average pay is in their state.
Love this also.
Great idea.
I'd like to see one of these;
I like what you say, either gold or silver, but the silver price would need to be a little higher. I love the states being responsible for the representatives pay in the Federal government, but I would hate to see it in California, New York, and Maryland (or other Liberal states that would take more from the taxpayers for this).
Also the SES has to GO !
Lobbyists and K street too
Ummmm, why is this not stickied? Asking for the Pond.
And........defrauding your constituents gets you a public hanging or stoning, your choice!
I would hope so
I think Trump should ban federal funding to any schools that have Political Science as a major. No lifetime careers in that field, learn something of value. Only government loving lefties love Poly Sci as a soapbox to perpetuate their hatred of America and to indoctrinate young people.
All, or most of them, colleges, should have professors that teach students how think critically. But I don't think this would go over too big in the more liberal colleges.
I was thinking let them have their official pay tax free. but every term they spend in office they must pay 10% more of their other income in tax. so if they wish to stay for 5 terms, 50% more in taxes on top of the regular taxes that would be due on other income. that way they would really need to think about whether they should be in office or not...
If they’re making money through nefarious means such as insider trading, this will hardly be a deterrent for that. It will make them even more susceptible to selling the country for their gain.
Sounds good, but maybe a little to easy
Although I highly appreciate such reforms, would you be so kind as to point out which sections of the law provide for the 7 points you raise?

Nice idea, but how are you going to get Congress to vote for this?
I wonder if it could be done through a National Proposition voted on by we the people? I know they have state propositions.
Constitutional Amendment, which can be ratified by 2/3 of the States and then comes into effect.
Congress can also enact an amendment, but would be unlikely to enact this.
Fun trivia, the 27th amendment, the last one ratified, was proposed as part of the Bill of Rights in 1789. It basically stipulates that if congress votes to change their wages, it does not take effect until the next congress sits, so as to be more difficult to vote to enrich themselves.
It was ratified by the States in 1992.
Three of the four States that did not ratify it should surprise no one. They are New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Mississippi.
New Jersey, Illinois, Rhode Island, California, Hawaii and Washington ratified it in the 90s after it had already been certified.
I was thinking, once their supply of laundered money runs out, they may just see it our way. Also, they know they ate cheating the US citizenry-but that might not mean anything to them.
Who knows. If enough statesmen get elected, it might happen.
I love the plan here however, realistically we need to start small. If we could do term limits, then hopefully we could cycle out the trash for patriots that would eventually for these types of things.
We actually have term limits, but most of the politicians act like they are supposed to be put back in office for life. Senate-6 years Congress-I believe is 2 years. As we know here that most get re-elected.
100% agree.
How about No Pay for every day of deficit spending?
That would be great, also.
You take a Fed, State, Local govmt paycheck- while you do so- your life is an open book. Your accounts are public, your schedules public, your email public etc...w
"Public service" is just that.
Well apparently not enough of it is public information-or we somehow missed the cheating they were doing.
