Not only are we eliminating the globalists, but I believe the hidden target is the CCP. If this goes on much longer the Chinese people will start to revolt. They will be starving and on the streets. Their money is just pennies from crashing. Their military could also end up starving. The CCP will try to blame Xi, and there will be an internal power struggle. The people will start to see party members living high on the hog, not starving, and in nice housing and will start getting revenge. This time however, there are far too many citizens for the CCP to control. China will fall.
There is a slight risk that China panics and starts a kinetic war, or even lobs a nuke. Fortunately they know if they did that, other nuclear powers (potentially even Russia) would destroy them to save the rest of the world. I don't believe they would launch a nuke though - I think there would be a notable ammo shortage when the party members decide their time is up. Either that or it would rain people for a few days.
Two big questions remain - will the people form a government that once again is aligned and allied with us? Or will Taiwan take advantage of this situation, move in, and claim China. Either one would be advantageous for us, although the 2nd option would probably be far better given our ties with Taiwan and the fact that China has a ton of nukes that would be better protected by Taiwan over a bunch of citizen peasants that wouldn't know how to protect them and might sell them for food.
