What is the definition of Hamas? People living in Gaza? Do tell what religion.
Surprise - Gaza had Jews, Christians and Muslims living there - coexisting peacefully. Yes, the oldest Arameic Christian churches are in Gaza.
I know people think HAMAS is some sort of militarized group with green head-bands - sort of like ninja-turtles or somethin, but in reality it's just people, objecting to living in a bloody guarded, concentration camp full of rubble. With no food, medicine or fresh water, under a rain of fire.
For the life of me, I don't think Trump should have encouraged Bibi, with his Trump-Gaza idea - which can be seen as ethnic cleansing. And surprise - no country wants to take in 2 million broken individuals. I agree that someone is going to have to re-build, but moving the people all out is not an option. They'll want to participate in the re-build, anyway. I think Trump has already got a deal with some of the other ME rich states, to invest in the re-build, but...
Yes, the people inside the concentration camp have weapons: disarming them all, is not going to solve anything - we know this from statistics on states that allow concealed-carry, for example.
Giving the people back their land might solve something- but that's impossible because their farms have been turned into kibbutzes full of armed soldiers. And their 1000-yr olive trees have been chopped down. Hence the fear from the Israelis who did that. They know, deep down, that it's stolen land. So those individuals NEED to kill everyone who lays claim to the farm/house/property.
The people can still throw rocks, because they don't want IDF in their homes.
So, this sort of stupidity is just a blatant call for genocide.
God bless your ability to see the reality of the situation. Sadness, you're a Wise and rational Fren.
Thank you, fren
Ignore the downvotes. Bumped you up with what I got. You’re on the right track.
See my comment to xchainlinkx, below. And note the headline - the PA (Palestinian Authority) doesn't want Hamas involved, either.
FYI, I was not the downvote.
The Palestinian Authority is a power-play from the Israelis. As was Hamas, actually.
not sure I buy that...
Hamas makes a great strawman for Israel's military strikes regardless of whether factual or not. Israel can send military aircraft to bomb a neighborhood from above, say there were hamas kids in one of the houses, and Palestine can't do anything about it.
One thing disarming hamas does is remove that excuse. If possible at least - the US is itself a country that only exists because armed civilians fought back against invaders backed by the most powerful military in the world at the time when that military attempted to disarm civilians. And then the US military has itself been driven out of countries where armed civilians became the primary danger to occupation. The whole historic effectiveness of armed civilians against an invading military has been all over the place, resulting in effective invasion one one extreme to sparking the creation of a new superpower nation on the other with plenty of long term violence in the middle (which is where the current occupation of Palestine sits already). Given how well armed and apparently young and angry Hamas is already I don't know if they can be expected to comply with gun control attempts. But failure to comply could result in renewed military strikes against neighborhoods. Also, those Hamas kids are getting some expensive weapons - it seems unlikely whoever is arming them will give up on whatever financial backing they manage to provide.
