Hot turbines + cold water could be catastrophic, but then again they only have a few minutes of fuel so maybe not catastrophically dangerous from a rapid temperature change, at least not more than tumbling into rough seas wearing heavy gear already is.

Hand held, quick release system. Believe me, the bugs are worked out. BTW, the small jets only have a few. Minutes of power. So very short jumps.
