I think it was a spur of the moment suicide. The instructor was telling her what to do to prevent the collision and she didn’t do it. The instructor probably tried to take control of the aircraft but she fought him on the controls.
There was definitely some maliciousness at the controls - I think the very last communication from the helicopter was a lie to ATC when instructed to confirm visual on the aircraft she collided with. Pure incompetence wouldn't have been a lie, it would have been a request to repeat visual heading to look or something.
