Flat earth is a roadblock, giving a 'satisfying 'conclusion/answer('see, I was right!!!') that stops people from going further down the road that led them to that road-block.
Earth isn't flat(at least I doubt it, but at this point I'm not even ruling out smurf over-lords descending from the heavens/ascending the bowels of the earth so...), but there are other adjectives, including larger.....
