"The US and Ukraine reached a deal over access to Ukraine’s natural resources Wednesday, a move that Kyiv sought to solidify President Donald Trump’s backing in ceasefire talks with Russia.
The deal will grant the US privileged access to new investment projects to develop Ukraine’s natural resources including aluminum, graphite, oil and natural gas.
It’s been seen as critical to nurturing Trump’s goodwill toward Kyiv as his administration pushes to end the war that began when Russia mounted its full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than three years ago."
Arguably, the current 'war' started with the Maidan and Odessa massacres, in 2014. But that was a civil war, right?
Also, arguably this 'war' started in the early nineties, when the CIA infiltrated Ukraine, only if was still considered a continuation of the Cold War, despite the fall of the Soviet Union, which we all thought was the end of that war.
Furthermore, arguably the rot started post WW2, with Operation Paperclip when the NAzis were transported to the West, instead of letting the Soviets deal with them. Canada, Germany, USA, UK all took them in, and recently, we had Ukrainian AMericans (Blinken & Nuland) running the show, with their anti-Russian sentiments firmly on display. Perfect.
Operation Paperclip was mainly an exercise in removing German technical staff, documentation, and technical materiel to America. This included aircraft designs and ballistic missile work. The Peenemunde missile staff were not in any way Nazi Party advocates, being Army staff and civilian engineers hired by the Army. They were glad to escape the defunct Nazi regime.
Once in America, they assimilated and naturalized and devoted their talents to the U.S. Army ballistic missile program, and later to the Apollo program. There was no trace of Nazism. Saying it would have been better for them to surrender to the Russians is tantamount to enabling the Russians to dominate in ballistic missiles and space travel.
This is a very odious and ignorant form of bigoted collectivism. All Germans are "Nazis"...just as all Italians are "Mafia." You want to nurse a grudge against "Nazis" inserted into the U.S. government---to exert Nazi influence---when no such thing occurred. The history is absolutely open and clear.
If you want to complain about the OSS / CIA retaining former Nazi militants, that's a different story and I have no cavil over that. But that wasn't Operation Paperclip.

If Russia had actually mounted a full scale invasion it would have triggered ww3.
